Different types of sleep positioners

by admin on April 13, 2010

Sleep positioner is a sleeping aid that should improve the quality of your sleep, or the quality of your baby’s sleep. The most common one is a baby sleep positioner, mentioned in the previous article.

Baby sleep positioner

As we explained, this sleep positioner is designed to ensure that your baby is sleeping on her back during her entire sleep. The motive for creating this sleeping device is the prevalent notion that the position in which the baby is sleeping can be the cause of a SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and that the safest sleeping position for your baby is sleeping on her back.

Baby wedge

Another sleeping device – baby wedge – is aimed to help the babies born with the Acid Reflux (colic).
More than 6 out of 10 babies suffer from this condition and some new parents are not even aware of this. Baby wedge safely positions your baby at a 30 degree angle to relieve colic & acid reflux.
There is also a variation of a baby sleep positioner with an elevated head area. This one also keeps a baby in the recommended sleeping position, and the elevated head area provides additional breathing comfort during sleep time, helps ease reflux and assists digestion.

Body pillow

Besides helping babies sleep more comfortably and securely, there are also sleep positioners that are designed primarily to meet the needs of expectant and new moms. Those are actually body pillows that provide total body support in various sleeping positions during pregnancy. They help elevate baby to the perfect height, support your back to prevent sciatica and lower back pain, tuck between your knees for help with back pain and temperature control, cradle your tummy, prop up your head to aid in breathing and help prevent heartburn and other pregnancy pitfalls.
These maternity pillows are great even after a baby is born, because they are right to support mother and child for nursing.
